This was written by the Revd.C.Mynett Vicar of St.John's in January 1984, this is the first attempt to record the history of the parish of Cinderford and its church of St.John since it came into being in 1844. It has proved to be a most difficult and painstaking work, and I must thank Miss Sheila Smith who over many months has patiently researched the project and finally produced this fascinating booklet. I am sure it will be of interest to all who know and love St.John's, and may provide a surprise here and there.
